It was a great pleasure to present the Reaching Out Engagement Framework to a full house at the Family Start Conference in Auckland this week.
We shared the process we used to develop the framework with Family Start practitioners from around the country. We gave an overview of the Framework with its kaupapa, theories of relationship and change and the supporting tools designed to support practitioners to engage our whānau who find parenting and life more difficult for a host of reasons.
We also shared the 4 insights that emerged from the FS practitioners in their stories of change.
*Kaupapa needs to be seen and lived
*Respecting small steps leads to engagement for change
*Changing constructs to achieve sustainability
*Tools make collaboration and change feel simple and easy
These stories were most humbling, We shared many anecdotes and described the changes to practice, the effect of these changes on relationship with whānau, and the difference it made to whānau and their tamariki.
If you missed it, please get in touch and we can send you a pdf of the presentation..
Two of the stories that really stood out for us are on our website...have a wander around.
We received positive feedback, although I wished I had started and finished with questions...quite a few people came up to chat afterwards and have made contact...always welcome a korero about this important mahi.
